THING #194628 THAT I COULD DO WITHOUT: girls rubbing each others’ backs in church. There’s a time for everything ladies, I’m not gonna judge what you do behind closed doors but hey keep it out of this place or at least be hot. WORSE: a brother/sister duo pulling this crap.

This is such a douchey thing to say, but it’s so true.

Perception
Something to think about….
Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approximately. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.
4 minutes later:
The violinist received his first dollar: a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.
 6 minutes:
A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.
10 minutes:
A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.
45 minutes: The musician played continuously.  Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace.  The man collected a total of $32.
1 hour:
He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.
No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.
This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities.
The questions raised:
*In a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?
*Do we stop to appreciate it?
*Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?
One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.
How many other things are we missing?

That’s the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty, even if they’re not much to look at, or even if they’re sort of stupid, you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are. Girls. Jesus Christ. They can drive you crazy. They really can. »

J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye, Chapter 10

…Boys are the same way, for me at least.

Girl Talk - “Play Your Part (Pt. 1)”

I reaaaalllly can’t believe it took me this long to get into Girl Talk.

Lyrics are NSFA (not safe for adults)

Listening to Girl Talk amps everything up at least 3 levels. Pretty sweet live, too.

The best part about having an animal in your life is the unconditional love you receive from them. Not only do you receive it from them, but you are able to give your love out too. That is why a lot of people say it is both important and healthy to have a pet. They bring so much joy to your life!

hands down best show ive ever been to was bon iver. however i kind of hate this volcano choir bs and wish he’d just go back to that cabin and pump out some more whistful tunes. except he could bring me along this time as his ~muse.

5 Minute Movie Ideas?

skylerelizabeth:

Ideally set all EXT. - DAY. With a twist ending.

BUT I’LL TAKE WHATEVER YOU GOT.

Brainstorming sesh all night tonight.

mines to long to post as an answer. i always wanted to make a short film about a girl who is perfectly normal and cute and funny but really unlucky in love. she goes to the doctor and finds out she has no natural pheromones, thus is a completely non sexual being to the rest of the planet. she falls in love with a chemist who whips her up a little bottle of love potion/pheromone.

ok maybe change the ending.
